So spring has finally sprung and we’re about to get some more rain here in suny California, BUT I won’t let this “rain on the parade” that I had this past weekend. This weekend was an eventful, sweaty one, but that’s how I like it. I traveled all around LA (mainly due to avoiding LA marathon road closures- Congrats runners!) to cycle and to flow at two awesome studios.
If you’ve been keeping up with my Tri It Out series, you may have seen a while back that I traveled all the way to Laguna Beach (#willtravelforworkouts) to try out CycleBar. Well, travel (too far) no longer as they just opened up a studio in Culver City.

This studio is deceptively large for the space in which it has been built, complete with changing rooms, lockers, a cycle theatre and a boutique shop.
As attendees arrived, CycleBar staff helped them check in, providing cycling shoes and a complimentary water bottle before we all entered the cycle theatre to get our butts kicked by Nicolette.
While waiting for the cycle theatre to open, I got to meet some new faces, see some old friends and introduce fit friends to one another.
This community is so amazing and supportive!
Nicolette lead us through a 50 minute spin class set to the tunes of new music, throwbacks and remixes. Our “cycle stats” were e-mailed to us immediately after our ride and we were able to see how we ranked, distance traveled and calories burned among other cool stats. As we made our way back to the front, we were greeted by some amazing salads from SweetGreen.
MitoXcell donated samples of the raw chocolate powder for attendees to try in their smoothies and/or protein bites (those are my favorite ways to use their product).
Another favorite studio of mine from my Tri It Out series, Set and Flow Yoga (why are you so far 🙁 ) let me host a barefoot bootcamp event on Sunday. This was LA marathon day, and having completed the NYC marathon in 2011, I know all the training and pride and sweat and tears that go into marathon day. I have so much love for all those runners out there whether it was their 1st or 100th marathon, it is an amazing euphoric feeling once you complete it. As an innocent bystander trying to get to a location that is blocked off by the route, it is not as pleasant – but I digress. Once I finally made it to the studio, we were set up with mats and got our weights ready to sweat in the heated studio.
An hour of constant movement combining kettle bells, free weights, body weight, yoga moves, pilates- this class has it all! Needless to say, everyone emerged completely drenched and ready to refuel from our sponsors.
Good thing MitoXcell donated some towels as we all needed to wipe our brows before taking our sweaty selfies! Purely Elizabeth provided individual portioned cereal cups and my friends at SweetGreen hooked us up with some tasty salads.
Set and Flow helped quench our thirst by offering discounted Kombucha from their Kombucha bar (yes, amazing- try the gingerberry!).
Luckily roads were open by the time the whole experience was over, but I was sad to see such an amazing weekend end!
Weekends spent working out with friends are definitely something I look forward to! I had an amazing time this weekend, did you? Until next time….
