Thanksgiving is over and the holidays are right around the corner. We may have given in a little bit, indulged in one too many slices of pie and may use that as an excuse to continue to do so until New Years at which time we’ll make resolutions to do better, be better. There is no need to wait until January. DO better, BE better NOW. Put on that new workout gear that you purchased on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, press play on that theme song in your head and let’s get to work. To me, music helps drive my workouts. I love taking workout classes at the gym with instructors that are not only motivating, but have great playlists (cue Soul-Cycle). The upbeat words, pounding bass can help drive your workout. Think RPMs when cycling or running and HIIT (high intensity interval training) routines. My favorite way to let my music drive my workout is to speed up for the chorus and actively recover during the versus. Right now I’m really digging Missy Elliot’s WTF, Kygo remixes and some of Beiber’s and Ellie Goulding’s new music. My taste in music is all over the place basically, but that helps keep the workout fresh. You can check out my latest playlist on Spotify.
