Welcome!

I’ve decided to start this blog to share my continuous fitness journey, some upbeat music for those workouts and tasty recipes.

About me:
I currently reside in California, but the east coast has my heart (Jersey girl). I’m a fitness enthusiast, triathlete, runner (marathon and half-marathon) and speech-language pathologist by trade. I work with children (ages 3-21) with varying disabilities and academic levels to improve their speech and language development. I love my job- growing as a professional, seeing progress in my students (whether it be finally getting a specific sound or hearing a student use a communication device to talk)- it is rewarding.  I moved to Southern California in the summer of 2013 on a whim, well almost on a whim. I lived in Hoboken, NJ and loved it- great food, amazing friends and a good job- but I felt that something was missing. I came out to California to visit a friend in the summer, scheduled an interview (figured why not?!),  looked at some apartments and before the week was over, I had signed a contract and a lease and was writing a resignation letter on the flight back east. Two weeks later, I was a California girl. Now that I had the good weather on my side and a job secured, I figured I’d REALLY get to embrace my active lifestyle. I ran the NYC marathon in 2011 and a bunch of half-marathons (Philadelphia, Austin, Long Beach to name a few), but the only problem on the east coast is that there are limited months for these activities. Now, being on the west with the sunny, beautiful weather all year long I can train and participate 12/12 months of the year and can really focus on my mind, body and fitness. I successfully completed the Hollywood half marathon, a spartan race, countless 5ks/fun runs and even got into the sport of TRIATHLONS!! (5 sprints currently under my belt)!

I love to share my experiences in fitness and my journeys/adventures with others. My friends describe me as motivating and inspirational, these are of course secondary to awesome and funny (I may be bias on that one).  Finding new, fun and exciting activities are a forte of mine. These can range from fitness classes to arts and crafts. Since moving to the west coast, I favor bike rides, running along the beach and hiking. I love living a healthy lifestyle, but also enjoy indulging in some good food and sweets at times. I love cooking/baking and decorating cakes/cupcakes. Luckily, I work in a school and can bring what I bake to work….otherwise; well, I think you get the idea. I LOVE music, especially if it has a good beat. Making playlists help guide me through my races and workouts and I love sharing my new finds.
